Are you looking for unique 2020 Halloween decorations? Are you tired of the same old Halloween decoration ideas? So are a lot of people. It’s not surprising, given the fact that Americans LOVE Halloween. While COVID-19 may put a damper on traditional trick or treating, according to data from the National Retail Federation (NRF), consumer spending on Halloween decorations, costumes, and candy this year is expected to reach $8.05 billion.
More than 148 million adults expect to celebrate Halloween this year, and 53% of those say a big part of celebrating safely is decorating their homes. If you’re one of the millions getting ready to decorate, you’re in luck. Have we got something new for you!

Glass Block for Crafts – DIY Halloween Decorations
But if you’re on the crafty side or have kids who like to make crafts, you may want to opt for our Craft Glass Block line. The DecoBloc line is perfect for DIY Halloween decorations, as each block includes a light cord plug cap. These blocks are made with a molded opening where you can insert lights into the hollow glass block to illuminate your cute or creepy creations. Simply plug it in.
There are all kinds of Halloween glass block craft ideas. Come up with your own unique idea, or Google “Halloween decorations with glass block” and see all of the great ideas people have come up with.
Some popular options include:
- Jack O’Lanterns
- Spider Webs
- Haunted House
- Trick or Treat
- Happy Halloween
- Candy Corn
Since the blocks are hollow, you could also fill them up with candy corn, trick or treat candy, fake eyeballs, or something else scary. You may also want to fill them with ribbon, or tie a ribbon on as a finishing touch.
How to Make Glass Block Halloween Decorations
To make the designs on the block, you could use adhesive-backed vinyl sheets, where you cut out the pattern or shapes you want, then simply peel and stick! If you use the vinyl sheets, you will need your own cutter, such as Cricut. You may also want to go with premade vinyl decals, many of which are available on Etsy or Amazon.
Another option, as long as you use paint that is rated for use on glass, is to paint your glass blocks. Either hand paint, or use a stencil or cutout, and then spray paint. This is more simply done if you are only using one color, such as black.
Whatever you decide, your options are pretty much limited only by your imagination! Scary or sweet, you’ll have a one of a kind Halloween display.
Lighted Glass Block
A word about lighted glass block — of course your Halloween decorations you made with glass blocks will look their best when you light them. Unless you plan to use them exclusively inside, plan on buying mini string lights that are safe for indoor/outdoor use. You might also consider plugging them into a timer so they turn on and off when you want — just like you do with your Christmas decorations.
This gives you more flexibility in where you place your glass block Halloween decorations. You can put them in windows, on your porch, put one on each step, etc.
